Rabbi Joel Levy became the Rabbi of Kol Nefesh Masorti in September 2001. Previously he spent three years as the director of Noam, the Masorti youth movement. He received semicha from Rabbi David Hartman in 2000. He lives in Israel where he teaches Talmud and Halakhah at the Conservative Yeshiva and also studies there in the advanced kollel. For the last four years he has run a cross-denominational supplementary programme for rabbinical students called Rav Siach. Joel teaches on the philosophy of halacha, gender and Judaism’s relationship with the non-Jewish world.
