Chazan Jaclyn Chernett, the first woman in the UK to be ordained as a cantor, is the founder and director of the European Academy for Jewish Liturgy. She is a founder and Vice-President of the Assembly of Masorti Synagogues and a founding member of Kol Nefesh Masorti, the first fully egalitarian Masorti community in the UK.  Jaclyn is a Jewish musicologist and educator.  Her MPhil thesis was devoted to Ashkenazi biblical chant and she teaches, writes and lectures on Jewish religious issues and in particular liturgical studies.
